Governor Otu’s People-First Mantra: SSA Youth Dev, Dr. Kijuo and MEDA DG, Mr. Ogban Discuss Collaborative Efforts for Youth Empowerment

 

Dr. Julius Kijuo, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Youth Development and Empowerment to the Governor of Cross River State, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Great Ogban, the Director General of the Microfinance and Enterprise Development Agency (MEDA).

The meeting, which took place at Prof. Eyo Ita House in Calabar, 13th January 2025 marked a pivotal moment for youth development initiatives in the state.

The primary objective of Dr. Kijuo’s visit was to establish a strong collaboration between the office of the SSA and MEDA to support the youth of Cross River State. As part of the Governor Otu’s mantra of "People’s First," the focus of the collaboration will be on providing youth with various skill acquisition opportunities and creating pathways to economic empowerment. The partnership aims to address critical youth unemployment challenges by promoting sustainable initiatives that empower young people with the tools and resources they need to succeed in their chosen fields.

During the visit, Mr. Great Ogban warmly welcomed Dr. Kijuo and expressed his agency's readiness to work hand-in-hand with the SSA’s office. He highlighted MEDA's commitment to ensuring that Cross River youth gain access to essential skills, financial support, and entrepreneurial opportunities that can drive the state's development agenda forward.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to a collaborative approach that would not only benefit the youth but also contribute to the broader socio-economic development of Cross River State. The synergy between SSA Youth Development and MEDA promises to create a more sustainable and inclusive future for the state's young population.

This strategic partnership is expected to pave the way for the launch of various programs, including vocational training, mentorship, and financial literacy initiatives, aimed at helping the youth of Cross River become active contributors to the state’s growing economy.
