The member representing Boki 1 constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Bette Philip Obi have been questioned by Hon. Amos Otu over donation of N14, million for the rehabilitation of Bateriko-Beebo-Bumaji Road.

Hon. Otu who is the former leader of the Boki Legislative Council, while releasing a statement about the suspension of the lawmaker by the All Progressives Congress says he is standing against his former boss as a matter of principle, his leadership style of oppression, his tendencies to continuously suppress the vulnerable and deceive the ignorants.

It can be recalled that the same Hon. Bette Phillip Obi the current Boki 1 House of Assembly member has been allegedly linked to the misappropriation of N1.5 Billion awarded by the NDDC in 2016 as disclosed by Boki Blog.

Hon. Amos Statement reads as follows;

HON BETTE OBI IS SERVING SUSPENSION, AND HE IS INTERVIEWING HIMSELF AS A BAILOUT

It is regrettable that my Boss, Hon Bette Obi, the Boki 1 state house member is now interviewing himself... Laughable.

Let me make it very clear that Hon. Bette Obi owe his entire constituency, the entire Boki, Cross River and Nigerians at large a duty to explain the reasons behind his suspension. It has been observed that he has bluntly refused to appear before the disciplinary committee set out earlier by the ward chairman, this has further buttress his lawlessness.

His interview of himself does not convey the truth, thus, misleading the public. It will have been correct if his self acclaimed achievement are being broadcasted by the beneficiaries. I know that in due time he will be forced to apologise as events unfold. He must speak out and apologize to the 12 villages of Bumaji if we must move forward.

The public should take notice that Hon. Bette Obi is my Boss and I have nothing personal against him. What I stood against him as a matter of principle, is his leadership style of oppression, his tendencies to continuously suppress the vulnerable and deceive the ignorants.

Hon Bette Obi should go ahead and interview himself again on the following issues:

1. What happened to N14,000,000.00 raised for the purpose of Bateriko-Beebo/Bumaji/ road? Note: we are aware that N7,000,000.00 was used for the Equa River bridge linking Bateriko and Beebo Community. And N7,000,000.00 was left as balance.

2. I pleaded with you to link Beebo and Bumaji communities with two culverts (the one in Bunfua market and the one previously constructed by Hon. Dr. Gabriel Ogre). The two culverts were to cost N600,000.00 only. These would have been the only benefit the 12 villages of Bumaji would have gotten for supporting in that launching, but you never did. And up till today, you have not accounted for the balance of N7,000,000.00 from that launching. Tell us the offence of the Bumaji man.

3. Again during the ward congresses, 27 ward executives were to be elected, it was agreed that each village (out of the 18 villages in the ward) should produce at least 1 ward Executive member which was done. We further agreed that the community with 12 villages (Bumaji) should take 6 out of the 9 left over positions, while the community with 6 villages (Beebo) takes 3 positions. You, Hon. Bette Obi, because of your hatred for Bumaji people, you took the 6 positions and gave to Beebo (with 6 villages) and gave Bumaji (with 12 villages) only 3 positions.

4. In another event, the chapter executives, the ward were to elect 3 chapter executive members, it was agreed that Bumaji (with 12 villages) should produce 2 executive members while Beebo (with 6 villages) produce 1 executive member; you took 2 for Beebo and left one 1 for Bumaji instead.

5. In the just concluded Co-opted Caucus members and advisory councils, 13 members were to be co-opted into the caucus; Bumaji 12 villages) were to produce 8 members while Beebo (6 villages) were to produce 5 members. You took the 8 meant for Bumaji for Beebo and left Bumaji with the 5.

6. During the reign of Sen. Sandy Onor, Hon Bette Obi was given 10 solar street lights for Beebo/Bumaji ward, he gave Bumaji (12 villages) 2 and took 8 for Beebo (6 villages).

7. Hon. Victor Abang donated 4 Solar network antennas for Beebo/Bumaji ward, you Hon. Bette Obi took 3 for Beebo (6 villages) and gave Bumaji (12 villages) only 1.

8. Distinguish Senator Eteng Jones Williams, gave the Beebo/Bumaji ward 18 bags of rice and N10,000 each for the 18 polling units in Beebo/Bumaji ward, you Hon. Bette took the entire donations without sharing with anybody in the ward.

9. Lots of rice that came during the past festive period from Hon. Victor Abang, the state government, Presidency, etc. were re-bagged by Hon. Bette Obi in his name and shared to his Abo in-laws and some other people in our constituency, just to show that he is a good person.

10. Hon. Bette Obi has forgotten that he used his brother, Peter Obi to replace Hon. Dr. Gabriel Ogre who was originally assigned to collect the timber money (amounting to about N600,000.00 weekly) meant for Beebo/Bumaji ward APC stakeholders covering January to August 2024. This resulted into a fight with his close parley Hon. Dr. Gabriel Ogre in Buancho.

Time may not permit me to mention most things Hon Bette deprived his people from but I have known him overtime to be an *expert in scheming other people out when it comes to money* as he was born with the feeling that _only him deserved to be rich._ *Hon Bette Obi is an expert in diverting political gifts & dividends to himself.*

Now, on the falsehood shared on his aclaimed achievements in politics;
we have only 3 health centers in Beebo/Bumaji ward namely:
i . Owambe Health Center
ii. Kakwe Health Center &
iii. Bajiki Health Center, the rest are health posts. So, let him tell us the health centers he built out of the 3.

The classroom blocks, culverts and those acclaimed bulldozed roads were all done through counterpart funding, where the affected communities contributed so much money. At that time, our brother the Rt. Hon. Boniface Ochabe was a member in that Agency as recommended by Hon. Ikobi A. Ikobi.

During the landslide event, a request was sent to the Governor to intervene on the road linking Bumaji and Obanliku, an approval was granted amounting to about N5,000,000.00. Hon. Bette Obi applied as a contractor to remove the earth that blocked the road. He spent less than N1,500,000.00. I was an insider and he is aware that I know these facts. So, he benefitted from the contract and turned around to glorify himself, SHAME.

It is laughable for a State House Member to buy wrappers for women who helped to work in his cocoa farm and called it empowerment. I challenge him to mention the Bumaji women who receive those wrappers. It was Ogwefore village women who received those wrappers you bought in appreciation for their kindness to you.

I suggest to my Boss, Hon. Bette Obi to hide his face and stop making mockery of the leadership as such qualities of his are toxic.

As for the Bumaji people, be informed that they have already paid for their network antennas. Villages such as Otsakwai/Yangwabe and Buabre have paid for the solar powered network antenna already same with my Village Bakuriko, I have paid for my Community (Bakuriko). We have called the people in charge. We were reliablly told that you only called them to come and install in two communities and that you have not even paid for them. If you like these communities that much as claimed, why did you not give them the ones that was freely given by Hon Victor Abang?

My advise: we the Beebo/Bumaji people called on you to retrace your steps and start treating people respect and set aside your cheating attitude in the euphoria of smartness. Cross Riverians have known you and you can't get away with them anymore. We are conscious of the fact that your poor relationship management may caused us your second term and make it look like a pattern *that Beebo/Bumaji ward cannot do more than one term in CRSHA.*

Thanks as we keep praying in an anticipation you will repent.

Allow us to tell your story.

Hon. Amos Ijow Otu (immediate past Leader of Boki Legislature)
