The exciting tournament showcased exceptional talent and fierce competition among local football clubs, culminating in a thrilling finale.
Landers Football Club from Isobendeghe emerged as the champions, taking home a cash prize of ₦400,000 for their impressive performance throughout the tournament. Following closely, the Lions of Akatom finished in second place, earning a prize of ₦300,000. The competition for the runner-up position was intense, showcasing remarkable skill and determination from the Lions.
The third-place honor went to Okwabang United, who received **₦200,000** for their commendable efforts. Each team demonstrated sportsmanship and dedication, making the tournament a memorable event for players and fans alike.
The cash prizes were presented to the winning teams during a ceremony held at the Cross River State NFA Secretariat, located at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar. The event was well-attended, underscoring the importance of supporting local sports initiatives.
Comr. Ekiewa Douglas Jr., Chairman of NYCN Boki, led the presentation of the awards, highlighting the chapter’s commitment to fostering youth engagement in sports. He was accompanied by the program manager of the event, Kumini Sheriff Otu-Oshibu, who played a crucial role in organizing the tournament.
Notable attendees included Mr. Etalobi, FA Secretary, and Mr. Abang, FA Vice Chairman. Representatives from the state government were also present, including Itanya Etta Lawrence, SSA Sports, and Dr. Julius Kejuo, SSA to the Governor on Youth Development.

In his remarks, Dr. Kejuo expressed satisfaction with the event’s management and praised the use of sports as a means to resolve conflicts among youth. He called it a commendable achievement and emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering peace and unity within the community.
The Governor’s representative, Dr. Kejuo, promised that the government would be more supportive in the next tournament and thanked the Chairman and his team for their efforts in making the event a success.
Itanya Etta Lawrence also expressed appreciation to the organizers, stating that the government is proud of the initiative. He pledged to provide a better trophy for the next tournament, emphasizing the commitment to supporting local sports.
All the various delegates expressed profound appreciation to the major sponsors of the event, **Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)**, for their commitment to supporting the activities of the host community in efforts to conserve the ecosystem. Their involvement underscores the importance of community and environmental sustainability.
Mr. Abang and Mr. Etalobi expressed their delight in hosting the presentation ceremony. They pledged to be fully involved in the next tournament and seize the opportunity to scout for talent, promising to present those identified with international opportunities.
