Former Nigerian international Dosu Joseph has revealed that the Super Eagles is not afraid to face any top teams ahead of Thursday’s draw of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recall that Nigeria is among the second seeds for the draw in Abidjan, the Ivorian economic capital.
The Super Eagles lie sixth in the continental rankings and, ordinarily, would have been a top seed, avoiding Morocco, title-holders Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt in the group stage.
However, in a chat with Completesports.com, the Atlanta Olympic gold medalist stated that Nigeria is ready to face any tough opponents at the tournament.
“I really don’t think the Super Eagles should be more concern about the opponents they will face because the team itself is capable of overcoming any team.
“We are not scared of any team that will be grouped with the Super Eagles for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. We have quality players on ground and I am convince with what we have at the moment.
“Other teams should be the one feeling the heat and not the Super Eagles.”
The qualified teams for the ornament include Cote d’Ivoire, which will host the tournament, in addition to Morocco, Algeria, Cape Verde, Burkina Faso, Angola, Cameroon, Congo DR, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, and Gambia.
Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Namibia, and Nigeria will also take part, in addition to Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, and Zambia.
