Speaking on Tuesday in continuation of national independence festivities, the governor enjoined Nigerians to put the country first in all things, insisting that individual and collective sacrifices can make a world of difference.
Otu stressed that it is the sense of unity that will guarantee the indivisibility of the country.
He emphasized that the sense of ingenuity will give birth to technological breakthroughs while the citizen’s sense of patriotism will be an enabler of peace and security of the nation.
Speaking on the harsh global economic environment, he assured that with little more patience and resilience, the country will get out of the woods.
“The same or less degree of this unfriendly economic climate is also prevalent in other parts of the world.
“What is required of all is solidarity, patience, resilience and love to collectively get our economy out of the woods.
“With our individual ideas put together, we will ultimately bring success to our present suffering,” Otu assured.
The governor enjoined all to eschew the fault lines of ethnicity, criminality, hate and rancour, but rather imbibe the true spirit of brotherhood, patriotism and commitment to protect the nation’s democratic experience.
