PHC Ward Focal Persons Tour Zipline Drone Technology.

Going by the decision of the cross river state primary health care development agency director general Mrs Abasioffiong Offiong to partner Zipline in terms of drug distribution to all health facilities in the state, a decision that will support the efforts of the state in the quest to achieve Universal Health Coverage, the primary health care development agency ward focal persons have undertaken a tour to Zipline drone technology to enable them have an understanding on how the entire system works.

The visit took place after an intense in house meeting with the new director general who said the purpose of her meeting with them was to chat a possible way forward and address major challenges they are facing to see how she can further strengthen the health sector of the state.

"I thought it wise to come to my Ward Focal Persons myself because of the economic challenges and difficulties in accessing cash today, I have listened to all of their complains and I'll act immediately to address them as well as the challenges they are facing few of which has fallen under lack of manpower and poor communication system amongst other unit heads.

"With PHCs now partnering Zipline in terms of medical commodities distribution, I felt it was important for my Ward Focal Persons to undergo a Tour to enable them have an understanding/insight on how the entire system works as they will stand as the intermediary between the facility and the Zipline drone technology. Our aim is to make it very possible and convenient for all of our people to have access to medical services irrespective of their location and even the weather."

The challenge of vaccine stock out amongst other medical commodities will henceforth be addressed as Zipline will see to it that there's a timely distribution of essential medicines and vaccines within 30 minutes on average as the drones fly autonomously and can carry 3 kilos of cargo, cruising at 110km an hour, and have a round trip range of 220km even in high speed winds and rain.
