The People's Democratic Party, PDP in Cross River State have suffered serious political tsunami as thousands of registered party members and major ward excos in Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency dumped the party for the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC today, as Hon Abang Pius Besong defects officially to APC in Ikom Local Government Area of the state.
The defectors totaling over 5,000 were led by the popular philanthropist and former PDP aspirant for Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency, Hon. Abang Pius Besong aka Ab Amani Jojo, were received by HE Senator (Prof) Ben Ayade, the CRS APC State Chairman, Barr Alphonsus Ogar Eba, the CRS APC Governorship Candidate, Senator(Prince) Bassey Otu, and other party faithfuls.
Hon Abang, while speaking at the event poured encomium on the personality of Prince Otu, described him as his political role model, stating that the APC is home for transparent democracy and promised to consolidate on the legacy of his elder brother, Amb. Soni Abang.
High point of the defection was the donation of a brand new car and two million naira by the G7 group ably led by Mr Smart Nnagbem to Prince Otu's campaign organization while Ab Amani Jojo doubles as member of the group of business moguls.
