Teachers institute in C’River becomes first public institution to bag CATC

Teachers Continuous Training Institute, TCTI, in Cross River State, has become the first public institution in Nigeria to be approved as Certiport Authorised Testing Centre, CATC, for skills validation.

The institute’s Director-General, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, made the disclosure at the presentation of the Certiport digital literacy testing centre certifications to Governor Ben Ayade, yesterday, in Calabar.

He said with this development, the TCTI established in 2019 in Biase Local Government Area of the state has taken the lead in digital literacy hub in Nigeria.

 “This feat will enable the institute to compare with any 21st Century Smart Institute globally,” he said.

Ayade promised to give the support needed to actualise the global expectations on TCTI in providing the needed digital literacy skill acquisition for teachers and other workforce in Nigeria.

On his part, Dr. Niran Oyekale, Nigeria’s representative of Certiport and a leading consultant on Digital Literacy and Emerging Skills Development further clarified the importance of providing the institute.

He noted that the TCTI and by extention, the entire people of Cross River State and beyond, would be the ultimate beneficiaries of the Certiport’s global platform for skills validation.

“With certification now proof of skills attainment and completion of trainings leveraging ICT, Cross River State is set to take the lead in solving global problems of skills shortages.”
