On Tuesday September 6th, Cross River State People's Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor alongside his running mate, Mrs. Emana Duke-Ambrose Amaweh visited the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Cross River chapter for an interactive session with the leadership of the organization.
The aim of the visit amongst other things was to charge the apex christian organization in the state to get actively involve in the electoral process and to also educate their adherents on the need to vote in God fearing leaders into public offices. Senator Sandy Onor admonished the leadership of the organisation to always speak truth to power without fear or favour as a hallmark of Godliness.
Responding on behalf of CAN, the chairman, Rev. (Dr.) Takis Etim Caiafas appreciated Senator Onor, his running mate, Mrs. Emana Duke Amawhe and the entire team who came with him for coming to interact with the organization on the way forward for Cross River State.
Rev. Caiafas stated that the one who wants to be a leader must know that leadership is a big weight placed on his or her shoulders, because "to whom much is given, a lot more is expected, one who aspires to be a leader will have to live above the deplomacy of speech concerning truth. Their yes must be yes, and their no must be no".
Rev. Caiafas assured senator Onor and his running mate that CAN as an instrument of God's wisdom owes them a duty to pray for them, and that they will continue to do.
The organization blessed the candidates and wished them well in their endeavours.
