A Nigerian entrepreneur and boki-born renewable energy expert, ogar Augustine Otuokwa is helping Nigerians to ease stress with his new invention - The young man invented solar-powered ASCON-12 to help people with solar borehole to pump water with same panel and also store energy in battery bank to power their homes.
The young entrepreneur who is also called Okwatex which represents his brand, always comes up with different inventions and transformative technology that tackles several social and economic problems at once. Recalled to his invention of a Covid-19 hand washing and sanitising machine for schools and in 2018, the renewable energy expert, who invented a hydro-power plant with locally made materials, commenced a Free Skill Acquisition Training on Renewable Energy for secondary school students in Boki local government area of Cross River State.
Also recalled back an interview with Boki Blog in 2018, Mr. Ogar said the problem of power outage in rural areas of our country and the issue of global warming which renewable energy stands as a lasting solution gave the challenge to help the people.

"In solar technology today, solar panels are used to power homes and to pump water in solar boreholes and solar irrigation systems. Solar panel generates power during the day time when there’s sunlight, but pumping of water takes a few hours of the day.

"However, the same solar panels cannot be used to pump water and also store energy in battery bank for later use unless the system is reconfigured to suit one purpose at a time.
"Many people with solar borehole stands at home but with irregular supply of electricity are compelled to installed a separate solar power system to enable their homes appliances to work and this usually incurred additional expenses.

"How then can one use the same panels to pump water and also store energy in battery bank for home use? This was the question that led to my new invention of automatic solar configuration system otherwise called ASCON-12.
The Name ASCON-12 is an acronymfor automatic solar configurationand it takes a maximumof twelve solar panels connected to itsinputs unit.
The ASCON-12 prototype which was invented in Bowen University, Iwo, Osun State is said to be the first of its kind.

According to the Inventor, Mr. Ogar Augustine, with support and grants from organizations ASCON-12 can be produced in mass to help thousands of people with solar boreholes across Nigeria.
The project according to him, was sponsored by Honourable Ochang Alvin Ochang, the Labour party candidate for Boki/Ikom Federal house of Representative 2023 since 2018
