The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams has sworn in Hon. (Dr) Ekeng Efiom Edet of PDP, winner of the Akpabuyo State Constituency by-election.
Edet was sworn in as a Member representing Akpabuyo State Constituency on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, at the Assembly chambers.
He replaced late Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ironbar whose demise in October 2021 prompted a by-election that was conducted on February 26, 2022, after defeating his closest rival, Hon. Bassey Ekpo Effiom of the APC.
Speaking shortly after administering the oath of office to the new House Member, Williams promised that a copy of the House rules would be made available to Hon. Ekeng Effiom Edet for his perusal.
While fielding questions from the press shortly after the house session, Edet said he was going to continue from the good works of late Hon. Ironbar by giving the people of Akpabuyo state constituency an effective representation.
His words: “I represent the good people of Akpabuyo State Constituency and to give them effective representation”.
He added that the interest of the people of Akpabuyo and the development of the state is paramount while promising that he would do his best in this direction.
