I Will Make A Remarkable Mark As Cross River Governor – Ambassador Toyo

Former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and an ex federal lawmaker, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo says she will make a huge and remarkable mark as Cross River state governor.

Ambassador Toyo made this known in Calabar while confirming her intention to contest for governor of Cross River state.

Ambassador Toyo who was elected as member representing Calabar Municipality/Odukpani Federal Constituency in 2011 said she has consulted extensively and has heeded calls to join the race.

According to her, her agenda for Cross River state will be centered on recovery, resetting and recovering the state.

The gender and development activist said Cross River is now at a point where a capable hand with substantial knowledge should man it’s affairs.

She added that the next governor the state needs must have experience on problems, issues of governance and administration.

Ambassador Toyo opined that she is ready to avail the state with these so as to rescue, recover and re-set her for greatness.

In her words, “A woman has never come up as Governor of Cross River state. The time is now well ripen, and I am determined to make a huge, remarkable mark.

“What’s important at this time is that it is time of healing the state and nation; a time of coming together. These are skills which women are noted for. And I have a good dose of such skills.

“I want to rebuild the institutions that have been mismanaged over the years; it is time of reconstruction.

“This is why I am coming out on the bases of Recovery of the state, Re-Set and finally Re-Position her.”

She said since a woman has never governed the state and are usually underestimated, she would put her feet down to make what she called humongous mark in Cross River state.

Toyo who is the founder of Gender and Development Action as well as an expert in governance said her government will restore the state as the actual destination for business and pleasure.
