Southern Group Throw Support On Makarfi for PDP National Chairman

A group of concerned  young men and PDP stalwarts in Cross River State under the name AUTHENTIC PDP LOVERS has called on the National Leadership of the People's Democratic Party PDP to support  Sen. Dr. Ahmed Makarfi as the National Chairman of the Party.

The former Governor of Kaduna State, former Presidential aspirant, and the immediate past PDP National Caretaker Committee Chairman is the best option for the Party at his time. Remember HE Sen. Makarfi brought stability and transparency to the Party during his stay as the National Caretaker Committee Chairman.

Releasing the Statement in Calabar, the Cross River State Capital, the Leaders of the group *Comr Eliman Eliman* and *Austin Atibile* call on all State Chapters of PDP to give Sen Makafi a chance to reposition the Party towards winning the 2023 General election.

The group calls on all young Nigerians in the PDP to throw their weight behind a detribalized Nigerian to lead the PDP into the 2023 General election contest against the ruling APC considering that all positions currently held by the South are swapped to the North and vice versa.

     On the Presidency, the group adviced the Party to be strategic to enable the Party to return to Aso Rock in 2023.

Firstly the group observed that in the 16 years reign of PDP in the Villa, the South took 14 years while the North spent only 2years. President Olusegun Obasanjo took leadership under PDP for 8 years and handed it over to Yar'Adua who spent only two years and passed on. President Goodluck Jonathan Completed Yar'Adua's remaining two years tenure, contested, and won four years tenure. In the 16Years of PDP, the South spend 14 years and the North 2 years. The group further stated that even if the country decides to add the frustrated 8 years of PMB to the north, it will still amount to the South spending 14 years while the North spends 10 years.

Secondly, the group positioned that if since Party offices are swapped, it will be fair to reciprocate that gesture in the Presidential candidate of the Party.

Accordingly, the last President PDP produced was from the South therefore until PDP produces a President from the North it will not be fair to fly a Presidential candidate from the South amongst the viable qualified eligible Southerners.

Conclusively, the group advice the National Leader of the PDP that the North is a more fertile ground for the PDP to return to Power in 2023 than choosing a Presidential candidate from the South for just the sake of fieiding a Presidential candidate.
