The South Korean government has expressed its willingness to invest in Cross River state, describing the state as attractive for investment.
The intention was disclosed by the South Korean Ambassador, Kim Young-Chae, during an interaction with Governor Ben Ayade in Abuja recently.
A statement issued by Christian Ita, Special Adviser, Media to Governor Ayade, said that Ambassador Young-Chae who disclosed that big corporations in Korea were poised to do business in Cross River if encouraged, solicited close collaborations with the state to attract foreign investments from South Korea.
Young-Chae was quoted as saying that Korean businessmen find Cross River state attractive for business, hence the willingness to explore investments options in the state.
The Ambassador also sought to establish an enduring relationship with Cross River, promising a mutually rewarding partnership necessary to develop the state.
In his response, Governor Ayade maintained that Cross River was open to partnership and collaborations geared at developing the state, observing that Koreans were responsible people with altruistic business culture.
Governor Ayade said Cross River was willing to partner Korean government to attract foreign direct investments to the state to boost economic development through the provision of critical infrastructures.
He listed mini-hydro, solar energy, mini-dams, irrigation, agriculture and road infrastructure as areas of interest for the state while urging the Korean government to also fund other focal projects in the state through her Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation Trust Fund.
With Ambassador Kim Young-Chae in the meeting were his wife and Korean Economic Counselor at the embassy, Choi Jungwon.
