LIKE DONALD DUKE, LIKE DIM ODUMEGWU OJUKWU

It's foolhardy and tomfoolery for anyone to tout or label the defection of our quintessential and legendary Donald Duke as Politically inconsequential, on the premise that he garner only 6 Votes in the last Presidential Election under the platform of SDP. Such act of touting is not just laughable, ridiculous, illogical, inane, spurious but unbelievably unbecoming. Donald Duke is not just urbane, fine and refined, he is the embodiment and paragon of a new and modern Cross River State. His mien and Name emblematizes the hope, dreams and visions of our beloved State. Not only did he bring Cross River State to international Spotlight, Donald represents everything and anything beautiful and good in Cross River State. How can such a man be touted by a bunch of ragtag ragamuffins and food-on-the-table scallywags as being Politically inconsequential?

For the records, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the Eze Igbo Gburugburu, the Leader and Warlord of Ndi Igbo once contested for the office of the President and lost in his Nnewi Hometown, in fact, Ojukwu lost even in his own polling Unit not minding he was the leader and Grand Commander of the Igbo Nation. He lost the election not because he was unloved by his people but because there is a difference between Political realism and illusion.   Ojukwu went into the Presidential race knowing fully well he stand no chance of winning. His people knew he was never in the race to win. So, why waste our votes? they said.

The same Ojukwu formed APGA and in 2007, presented Mr. Peter Obi to the people of Anambra State as his Last Wish. Notwithstanding the level of Political thuggery and rigging preeminent in the Politics of Anambra State at that moment, the people of Anambra State stood by their own Leader and voted overwhelmingly for Peter Obi. Ojukwu was also instrumental to Rochas Okorocha's Victory as the Governor of Imo State under the platform of APGA. Today, almost all the Political Parties in Anambra State are jostling to make Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu the Face of their Political Party. This is the same man that contested for presidency and lost in his polling Unit. 

Donald Duke may have lost the presidential election in his own polling Unit because he was never in the race to win afterall, but the unimpeachable truth is the fact that he remains the Lord of the Masses and a harbinger of Hope to the common man on the street. Remember that in this same state, during the END SARS PROTEST, while Oga Ben was busy doing Ben-Johnson race out of the state, there came a man who has the ears of the masses. A man whose name and presence melt every stony heart. At this moment of despair and great turmoil in the state, Donald Duke was able to enter the ill-fated and bloodthirsty streets of Calabar South, talking and beckoning on Cross Riverians to embrace peace and tranquility. Expectedly, the people heard him and obeyed his voice, while Oga Ben was hiding somewhere inside his cupboard. This is the same man some rabble-rousers are touting and downplaying his Political relevance.

Make no mistakes, the  return of the former Governor Donald Duke, into PDP is a Game Changer especially in Cross River Southern Senatorial District. The People Know who their true hero is, and Donald Duke represent everything Heroic to the common Cross  Riverian on the Street.
