The Executive Chairman of the Ikom Local Government Council, Honourable Kingsley Namgbe Egumi has expressed his gratitude to the state government and AA Universal Industries Limited for establishing the Cocoa factory in Ikom LGA.

Mr. Egumi made the remarks while opening a one-day stakeholder engagement meeting for the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of an Agro-Industrial Processing Complex with Research and Development Laboratories in the Ikom Local Government Area.

The mayor of the city council requested fair compensation for those who had been displaced, as well as a solution to noise emissions and dust from ore processing activities. Doctor Damilola, the director of Ecosphere Consulting Limited, had previously stated that a functioning microfinance bank would be available to provide loans to farmers.

This is to ensure that there is more development and that land acquisition is not forced. Members from the Federal Ministry of the Environment, their State counterparts, various Farmers cooperative organizations, representatives from the host communities, the political class, traditional rulers, and the general public were all present at the meeting.
