The Distinguished Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Prof. Sandy Onor has said that government is all about the things that touch the people. He stated this in an event organised by the good people of Ndok-Itek Community, Ogoja Local Government Area to thank him for the repair of the entire stretch of the Ndok - Kakwagom Road, which has alleviated the suffering of motorists and other road users. Overwhelmed with joy, the community conferred Senator Onor with the chieftaincy title of Njuranfam of Ndok.
In Senator Onor's words: "When you hold public office, you hold it for the people. Government is about things that touch the people. When you touch the people, give them the small one they want. We may not have tarred it this first time, we just open it up, but see how happy you are because it's something that touches you."
Senator Onor who was initially hesitant to attend the event said: "When my DG asked me to come that the people wanted to receive me, I said I won't come, because I didn't want people to read politics into it. Am not senator representing the North."
Responding on behalf of the community, the Clan Head of Ndok- Itek, Chief Clement Ashaba Ijanga said: "We are short of words to express our gratitude and appreciation. It is God that sent you, because your brothers are suffering somewhere. For God to talk to you, speak to you, and move you to do this, the Lord will continue to increase you, Amen! You are the Original Caterpillar and today the Ndok people want to confer on you this chieftaincy title, Njuranfam of Ndok which means, you can repair every year from North, South, East and West you can repair."
