ANTHONY BISSONG ATTAH IMMERGES WINNER IPAC

Attah was elected IPAC chairman on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the state EXCO elections held at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office, Calabar.

The election was conducted and monitored by the Deputy National Secretary of IPAC, Comrade Egbeola Martins as well as the state EPM headed by Asuquo Affia, Esq.

Before the elections, Barrister Asuquo Affia admonished the members that IPAC is not an opposition party but an advisory council saddled with the responsibility of putting the government on track; therefore, IPAC should engage constructively, proffering solutions to the issues of concern.

Following a consensus of members, the Presiding officer, Comr. Egbeola Martins went ahead to conduct the elections using the Voting and Affirmation mode of election as adopted by the entire CrossbRiver State IPAC members.

After expressions of interest, the elections took place and the result of the exercise had Comrade Anthony Bissong Attah of Young Progressives Party (YPP) emerging as Cross River State Chairman of IPAC.

4. Organizing secretary – Wisdom Enang Ngwu (SDP)

5. Treasurer – Dr Fidelis Ezou Okoh (APGA)

6. Legal Adviser – Dr Ekwok Innocent (NRN)

In his acceptance speech, the new Chairman of IPAC – Cross River State, Comr. Anthony Attah appreciated the National EXCO, head of EPM, other party chairmen and the media for their presence. He promised to serve the council with every amount of transparency and accountability.

His words: “Today, I was elected Chairman of Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River State Chapter. IPAC is an umbrella body comprising all political parties in Nigeria.

“I am eternally grateful to God Almighty for making it possible for me to win this election despite all the odds. I am also grateful to the national leadership of IPAC and particularly the leader of the delegation to Cross River State, Comrade Wale Martinz. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) deserves commendation for a thorough job done by Barr. Asuquo Affiah, head of EPM and his team.

“In a very special way, I’ll like to thank all political party Chairmen in the state for finding me fit to lead them at such an important political moment. I’m equally indebted to every other stakeholder that offered their support in the course of this election.

“I am most grateful to the leadership of my great political party, Young Progressives Party (YPP) under the able leadership of Comrade Emma Bishop, my national Chairman, Professor Tosan Blessing, my South-South Chairman and all members of the YPP family in Cross River State.

“As the Chairman of all party Chairmen in Cross River State, I’ll work in concert with other stakeholders to reposition political developments in our state by building necessary Intra and inter-party bridges. I’ll bring new ideas and ideals to advance the course of progress, development and peaceful coexistence among Cross Riverians.

“IPAC will certainly experience a paradigm shift in my time. We must all move Cross River State forward”.

On his part, The head of EPM, Asuquo Affiah Esq. appreciated the members and also brought to light the level of enlightenment of the electorates in Cross River State, thereby charging (the new EXCO) that the right things be done at all times; to the satisfaction of the people.

He further said that the attained positions should be that of service and one that will change the narrative for the betterment of the state, “IPAC is just the beginning to other greater portfolios, so be of service to the people…”

The Presiding office and National Deputy Secretary, Comr. Egbeola Martins commended the maturity displayed by the IPAC members, saying Cross River State held one of the most peaceful IPAC elections; and urged the EXCO members to carry everyone along with an all-inclusive attitude.
