OVERVIEW
On the 28th of December, 2020, the social media space was illuminated with a eye-catching colorful Danare Carnival, the maiden edition of this event which streamed in pictures and video clips all over the social media as the float moved in mosaic artful procession thirty kilometers from the mangrove beddings of Danare virgin forests through Biajua the home of Kendeh Eshua to the urbanizing town of Bashua in Boki Local Government Area - CRS where the float reverted homeward to Danare.
The Danare Carnival segmented into seven Bands with over three hundred revelers in each of the groups is the pioneer most famous community carnival in all of Boki LGA and old Ikom. The Bands are;
Kejie (Love) Band, Kemkpoghe (Jubilation) Band, Bowang (Light) Band, Okun (Peace) Band, Otiti (Real) Band, Okabe (Will) Band and Gospel Band. The highlight of the Carnival was the beautiful segments of Dance display by the various bands with their unique styles and colors.
Other Events
The pictorial and video excerpt series inserted in this article reveals yet other cultural and social events packed in the celebration that thrilled residents of Danare in the 2020 edition of this Fiesta. It was eventful as organizers of Danare Christmas Fiesta returned the moonlight folklore mythical orchestra music instrument called KADANG in Bokyi dialect and Traditional Riddle Guitar in English to the amazement of the younger generation and the ecstasy of the older generation who has missed the instrument to the plodding of civilization. The 2020 Edition commenced with Danare Unity Football Tournament where six teams were in action until 1st of January. Also, KABOO shooting sport was featured in the Fiesta and Tug of War (Ejukpe) attracted enormous Fanfare to the event. There were other Educating events like SYMPOSIUM where Keynote Speakers sensitized the people especially, the youths on the dangers of Cultism and other social vices. Topics on personal and community development and educational awareness were also discussed in the symposium. There was a Gala Night to ramp up the event.
Organizers of Danare Christmas Fiesta
_Danare Mbeh-Keji_ (Danare in Diaspora), a homogeneous body of all Danare Descents living away from home; a virtual community of Danare indigenes had dreamed this dream and made it possible. The decision to host this Fiesta was fuelled by the lost in our sociocultural and coexistence values that upheld the Boki society together penultimate the infiltration of strange modernity and barbaric trends of civilization were allowed to annihilate the veracity of our norms and lifestyle that once made our communities the safest and best habitable places on earth. This project with the tbeme "Shining the Light of Development" was indeed the brainchild of all Danare sons and daughters in Diaspora that worked in unity of purpose and cooperation to ensure that the objectives of this event was amply achieved.
Success Story of Danare Christmas Fiesta
Holding Danare Christmas Fiesta 2020 promoted a peaceful , loving and happy Danare, an image which has attracted a lot of commendation from well wishers around the world. Danare has floated a brand that most sister communities and Wards are planning to imitate in the coming season. Internally, the Christmas Fiesta did not give room for youthful exuberance and activities of cultists through out the festive period. Danare enjoyed perfect peace and decorum.
Unity and communal coercion was greatly enhanced amongst families and communities. There was love, sharing and happiness. The event engaged both young and old who had the Christmas of their lives since the history of Danare as prizes were won in all categories of the competitions. The spirit of brotherliness and oneness was revived and the community is looking forward to consolidating on the gains of this Christmas event in community building as the new year begins.
Economic Revitalization
Danare Christmas Fiesta 2020 promoted the homecoming of many Danare families to celebrate the 2020 Christmas with their families. The beautiful aspect of this is how the event drew down the spending power of danarians to keep homes and friends busy in the spirit of Christmas. There was quite a fledgling of the pocket power during this period. Beer parlors and sit-outs recorded unprecedented sales through out the period of this event. The Carnival stirred economic stimulus in the communities that seats along the Carnival route; as most of their portable drinking water, snacks and drinks went out of supply from the patronage by revelers and the floaters.
DJs and owners of sound and lighting systems made a fortune from this event as well as costumeries and make-up artists. Danare Christmas Fiesta is an investment opportunity for telecommunication companies, Banks, Coca-Cola, Nigerian Breweries and the Cross River Tourism Bureau. Tourists are welcomed to catch up with the natural exquisiteness of nature and culture in the 2nd edition of Danare Christmas Fiesta 2021
Expectations
Danare Mbeh-ke'Oshie and Danare Mbeh-Keji are anticipating a bigger and better Danare Christmas Fiesta 2021 where other Wards, Communities, the Press and Tourists would be invited to grace the light-hearted program which will feature many more cultural and folktale games and displays.
