The leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Central Cross River State has proscribed all kinds of public demonstrations within the district.
NYCN made this known through a press release signed by its Vice Chairman Central District, Engr. Sunnyskipo Nchu and made available to Moon Ray News today.
According to Engr. Sunnyskipo, although it is the civic right of an individual or group of individuals to embark on a protest at will, however, the recent hijack of the #EndSARS protest across the country, resulting to mass looting, vandalism, arson, etc has made it impossible to support any form of protest in the meantime.
For fear that any protest within this period might likely be hijacked is the reason Engr. Sunnyskipo is appealing to youths of Central Cross River State to shun any invite to join a protest, while warning that the Council will not tolerate any breakdown of law and order in the district, irrespective of which window throughwhich this would come.
The Vice Chairmen Central who seized the medium to appreciate all youth leaders in the district for efforts donated in sustaining peace thus far also advised youths to desist from vandalizing private and public establishments.
“I also want to use this opportunity to thank all NYCN chapter chairmen and the entire youths of central senatorial district for not allowing the peaceful #ENDSARS protest to degenerate into looting, stealing, and destruction of public and private properties in the district.
“Central is bonded and known for what we just displayed during this protest. Our message has been conveyed. I believe that moving forward, the government and other authorities will address our concerns,” Sunnyskipo said.
Engr. Sunnyskipo also called on the government to provide basic social amenities, quality education, good roads, jobs opportunities and adequate security for the youths whom he acknowledged as the future of the state.
