Ex- NUESA President Comr. Julius Kijuo Writes Unical, Sides With Prof. Florence Obi for Vice-Chancellorship

The former faculty of Education president and treasurer forum of faculty president 2013/2014 Academic section University of Calabar comr. Julius Obanghe kijuo has finally  given reasons why professor florence Obi remains the best candidate in the forthcoming University of Calabar VC Elections. 

My love for my almamata university  of Calabar and professor Florence are inseparable as one who has worked with her as a student leader during her administration as Dean of Faculty.

    I was a live witness when prof florence turned many inpossibilities to be possibilities as the dean  faculty of Education university of Calabar. Her tenure was associated with uncommon development that remains the greatest and unbeatable.   

As the largest faculty in the university. she  was bothered on how education students will not longer see themselves as less privileged students,  She work in collaboration with the faculty students union in raising funds and she build an Ultramodern Faculty of Education Library, well equipped without funds from the University in other for the students to be well updated in reading widely. 

She became the first Dean  to Organise the  first Education day in University of Calabar which give faculty of education a better status as students.

The first   Dean to rebrand Teaching practice (TP) in a way that students in the faculty of Education were not longer limited to do TP within Calabar municipal and south alone. But having opportunity  to be posted to other states just to impact more and promote the entire universe of Calabar 

The first Dean to attract a program tagged "ERASMUS MUNDUS" Where students and lecturers in the entire university get scholarship to study abroad in other to promote learning and the name of the university.

The first Dean to serve for two terms, that students in the faculty demonstrated peacefully   2013 calling on the muniversity of Calabar management and staff to join in returning her for second term.  Because of her uncommon leadership and transformation during her first term as the Dean faculty of Education. 

She Splits the Faculty of Education from 7~12 department, During her tenure.  She worked closely and in Collaboration with the university of Calabar management for the need to increase the department in faculty of Education,  that was achieved and has given a new face to the faculty and the university were students can concentrate in their area of  specialization.

She won Award in 2014 as the best Dean since the establishment of the university as presented by NUESA students Government .

She also won SUG award as the best student friendly Dean in the University which was presented to her by the then Dean of students affairs Prof Eyong.

She is such a Quintessential academia who share good relationship with students. And was practically celebrated by her fellow staff as demonstrated during my days in the university. 

 I solicit for the university of Calabar Council to give prof florence Obi, a chance to turn the University around. 

The woman professor Florence B. Obi is an alround achiever having served as a one time Commissioner for women affairs Cross River State. A successful  business woman. 

   As a high ranking professor of 13 years who has served in different portfolio as former Deputy vice Chancellor (Academic)Deputy Director, CES,former Head of department of Environmental Education with over 60 publications. Above all breaking history as a 2 tenure Dean in the faculty of Education

I also use the opportunity to call on all past and present malabite comrades, staff, well meaning Cross Riverian and all stake holders of Unical to support her for a better tomorrow in my Alma-mata.
