The member representing Boki 1 Constituency in Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Virginia Itam Abang has described the New Yam Festival in Boki land a time for thanksgiving as she urges constituents to live in peace and harmony.
While sending her New Yam Message, the distinguished lawmaker urged constituents to maintain all Covid-19 safety measures set up by the Government.

"Culture is the arts, customs, and habits that characterize a particular society or nation. God has blessed the work of our hands and it's a day of Thanksgiving.
The new yam celebration cant be complete without peace and unity. So I urge you to celebrate this season peacefully.
New yam has been our inheritance and practice in Cross River State, Boki LGA in particular.
It is on this note that i celebrate with you my brothers and sisters from Boki and most importantly, my constituents on this special and remarkable day.
I urge you all to maintain social distance, wear face mask and celebrate in line with rules set up by the Government, to help contain the spread of the Novel Coronavirus disease.
I wish you all a happy new yam festival celebrations".
