The Community Connect intervention projects of the Cross River State Government has chosen Obio Usiere, a riverine community in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River as one of the beneficiaries of Governor Ben Ayade's Cross River State Community and Social Development Project.
The project which is a construction of a four modern classroom block with four VIP toilets and a staff room for teachers,when completed will provide basic education for the people and residents of Obio Usiere inline with the education for all police of the Ayade's administration.
Flagging off the project, the Commissioner for International development Cooperation and Donor Support, Dr. Inyang Asibong who represented Governor Ben Ayade presented a cheque to the village head, His Royal Highness Ekpo Amatem to facilitate the completion of the project.
According to Asibong, the project will ensure that the riverine Communities also have access to quality education with International standard facilities to enable the students compete in the global society.
Asibong asserted that it is part of the government's development plan to ensure that all communities have access to education no matter how hard-to-reach the community is .
She charged the village head and the community to take ownership and ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated time for completion by the end September 2020.
Also speaking during the flag off the Project, the Chairman Cross River State Community and Social Development Agency, Mr. Toni Joe Ikpeme thanked the community for contributing their counterpart funding towards the project. He also charged them to ensure the project sees the light of day.
The Acting General Manager of Cross River State Community Development and Social Development Agency Mr. Fidel Undie on his part, assured the community of more Government social and development projects.
The Chairman of Obio Usiere Project Committee, Prince Ekanem Ekpo, applauded the Governor, Prof Ben Ayade for the initiative and also appealed for more of such project to be brought to the community.
Highlight of the event was the foundation laying of the project by Dr Inyang Asibong, Commissioner MIDC, supported by the Board Chairman and the GM of the Cross River Community and Social Development Agency.
