45 years ago; Boki local government area (formerly in Ikom LGA) in South Eastern State (present day Cross River State and Akwaibom State) received the first set of two youth Corp members at one of it's oldest secondary school.

Mlm. Abubakar Mohammed (Shatiman Hausa) Was Among The First NYSC Set to be posted In the entire Boki Land In 1975. He served in Boki Comprehensive Secondary School (Boki Boys) Okundi.

Mlm.  Abubakar Mohammed is a Katsina Politician and PDP Aspirant for Katsina Central Senatorial District in 2019

According to him: Apart from my birth place, I have never enjoyed anywhere more than Boki!

He said "On Arrival the Villagers welcomed me warmly. Some of the elders, on learning that I was a university graduate, admitted to me that for them a Hausa man is either a soldier or a cattle rearer".

"I jovially boasted to them not only was I a graduate, but I was going to teach their children to pass their examinations. Apart from my birth place I have never enjoyed anywhere more than Boki".

"The elders I mentioned never meant to insult me but only showed the long standing association with the Fulani herdsmen. Okundi was 16 km away from Ogoja, the home of Chief I. I. Murphy".

Chief Murphy was for a long period a Board member of the Kaduna based New Nigerian Newspapers. Chief Murphy operated a Cattle Ranch in a village near Ogoja. A fellow NYSC member was posted to that ranch".

"I thank God I had met and interacted with the indigenous villagers whose world view, hospitality and tolerance of others knew no bounds".

In A Phone Conversation With Boki Blog; Mlm. Abubakar Mohammed said Boki remains his second home, that he'll visit someday.
