The Chairman of Boki Language committee and Parish Parish priest resident resident in Ogep Osokom, Boki LGA, Rev. Fr. Michael Abang One has said that Boki means 'Brothers of kind interest' and not 'Division' as it has been said to be.
Fr. Mike Obi who spoke to Boki Blog in Bashua Community in Boki local government area of Cross River State, featured in the opening event of the Banjuare Boki Festival, August 13th 2019.
In his words, he said;
"I'm so happy with this development and that's why I came all the way from Boki-west and I've been here for more than 5hrs. It's a good thing and I started somewhere. I've been sharing the knowledge of Bokyi and of course they say 'No knowledge is a waste' so let's transfer this knowledge to the youths"
"Boki is a great nation and let's unite with each other rather than taking lives. Talking lives is not just about killing, but also taking serious drugs that will endanger your life like Tramadol and the rest of them". He said as he urged Boki People to love one another.
Talking about the real meaning of BOKI; "Boki (B.O.K.I) doesn't mean 'division' but 'Brothers of kind interest' and as brothers of kind interest let's go out and show that kindness to each other".
"Bo'kyi' is also referred to as Nfua 'Kyi' means 'Spread!' so Boki doesn't mean division" He concluded.
