Ahead of the governorship election in three months, Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has directed all PDP chapter caucuses in the state to immediately recommend names for appointment as members of caretaker committees for local government councils.
DAILY TRUST recalled that since the advent of current administration, chairmen of local government areas never functioned rather heads of administration administered the 18 LGAs of the state.
Ayade urged them to work out the modalities with transparency and fairness by carrying all the wards along in the exercise.

In a statement by his chief press secretary, Christian Ita, he said they should not recommend for chairmanship positions
“Caucuses should please note that they should please note that their mandate does not include nominations for the position of chairmen and secretaries of caretaker committees”.
State chairman of APC, Dr Matthew Achigbe said the governor thinks he can use that process to consolidate power.
