Ochibe Boki - The umbrella body of the Boki Nation had a meeting yesterday at Gen. Moses Obi's compound in Oku Bushuyu.
Noticeably present were:
Gen. Moses Obi (Chairman Ochibe Boki)
Paramount Ruler Boki, LGA
Hon. Hillary Ekpong Bisong (CRSHA Boki II)
Rev. Fr. Mike A Obi (Parish Priest, Ogep)
Hon. Abuon John Awa (Chairman Kak. Irr.)
Clan Heads and other dignitaries
Attendance at the meeting was relatively poor compared to previous meetings which many blamed on poor circulation of information concerning the meeting.
Agenda
The agenda for the day was to address the menace of cultism amongst the youths of Boki.
Overview
Rev. Fr. Mike O. Obi spoke at length about about the situation and encourage the people not to despair as things like this happen everywhere. He advice that this should rather be seen as a warning of greater trouble to come if the people do not redress.
His speech was more of encouragement, telling the people all hope is not lost. The end is not here yet.
His position as the parish priest in Ogep put him at the forefront of the crisis and hearing such words of encouragement to him was really a great relief.
He further adviced the youth present to desist from cultism as Maggog the demon behind cultism is the demon of unforgiveness and in a land of unforgiveness, peace can never reign.
He likewise encouraged political leaders to desist from using youths as thugs and then dumping them after elections. He stated that this is the main propeller of cultism as this youths who have been exposed to violence during elections and in the end are filled with hate and most often make rash decisions towards the right path to follow.
At the end of his sermon, he brought a leaflet bearing "Nshwam bukun ke Esi Bukyi "which is translated prayer for Peace in Boki which was shared to people present and had everybody say the prayer at the end of the meeting.
Observation: On a sad note
The media/communication route of the group is inefficient as was the reason for the low turnout.
Some said there weren't given invitations and according to them, they heard the meeting was strictly on invitations and one would wonder why such a meeting will be strictly on invitation.
The Ochibe Boki is loosing it's strength. Boki people outside leave the meeting to people living in Boki while the majority of people at home believe that the meeting is exclusively for the elites, which is a sad development.
